LAKE COUNTY FISH & GAME
PROTECTIVE ASSN.
    ARCHERY LEAGUE

LCF&G is considering scheduling a casual archery league for
spring & summer 2007 at our new archery range.  These will
probably take place once every one or two weeks.  All scores
will be handicapped.  It would be a good way for archery
minded club members to meet.  Archery Chairman Ken Zimny
is seeking input to determine how many people would be
interested in participating.  He would like input on what day of
the week would work best for most people, what month to
start, and any other constructive comments.  Our inital thought
is to hold them prior to the general membership
meetings.  Please e-mail him at ken@zimny.com or call him at
708-757-9080 to comment & have your name put on a
notification list.  The cost for participating with be minimal
    or nothing.

    Archery Range Rules

The purpose of this document is to convey to all LCF&GPA members the importance of
safety and the regulations pertaining to the range.  The range is for member use only.
Tournaments and shoots will be addressed as the arise.  Violation of any of these
safety rules and/or regulations as well as general property rules, will be cause for
expulsion from the club and participation in all events at the club's range.

    1.  Range is to be used for archery only.  No guns of any kind are allowed on the range.
Longbows, recurves, compound bows & crossbows can be used on any target.

    2.  Archers must be 18 years of age or supervised by a qualified adult.

    3.  Check your equipment.  For longbows and recurves, always inspect your strings for
broken or frayed strands before stringing the bow.  For Compounds, inspect the string,
cables and cams for problems before shooting.  Check that the location of the nocking
point, the sights, rest and other items are secure.  If you use a release, look it over
for dirt and mechanical soundness.  Arrows need to be inspected for straightness,
secure fletching, tight points and nocks that are not cracked, loose or positioned wrong.
Make sure you have the correct arrows for the bow you are going to shoot.
Adjustable sights should be checked for the correct setting for the distance you are
    going to shoot.

    4.  Broadheads, bullet points, field points & Judo points can be used on any
    sand box target.

    5.  Use of the club’s 3D game targets are restricted to bullet points and field points only.

    6. Archers may bring their own targets if they do not impede other archers, and all
debris are cleaned up after use.

    7.  Arrows are not to be nocked while anyone is forward of the shooting line.
Shoot only from the shooting line.

    8.  No “Sky draws” allowed.  Do not point an arrow above the target while drawing
the bow. Stay below 90 degrees. This will prevent any arrows from being released
accidentally at a steep angle and sending it a long distance behind the target.

    9.  No “stump” shooting.  Do not shoot at anything other than the targets from the
appropriate spots.  Stumps, trees, leaves, cans, animals, etc. are not to be
    used as a target.

    10.  Shoot from designated spots to designated targets.  Shoot 90 degree
    perpendicular from targets whenever possible.

    11.  If an arrow or part of equipment is dropped in front of the shooting line while
shooting is in progress, it can only be picked up after shooting has stopped.

    12.  Clear the line before pulling arrows.  Always wait for the last shooter to finish
shooting.  Someone should at that time, clearly and loudly call "PULL" and wait for all
shooters to rack their bows before stepping over the line towards the targets to
retrieve you arrows. Do not remove your bow from the rack until all shooters have
returned to the shooting line. Always look down range and beyond the targets to be
sure the area is clear before shooting.

    13.  No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the firing ranges and any person under the
influence of alcohol is barred from the ranges.

    14.  One must always use a bowstringer for longbows and recurve bows. This will
reduce the possibility of damage to the bow and injury to the person.

    15.  At least one member of a group should always remain standing in front of the target
while others are searching for lost arrows.  Lone shooters must  place their bows in
front of a target if they are searching for an arrow behind the target.

    16.  Leave the range in better condition than you found it.  Police your garbage.  Upon
completion of shooting, each shooter is responsible to regrade the sand in any target
box in which they have shot.

Most importantly, we must help each other by looking out for one another. Take time to
look around and become aware of the surroundings. If you are not 100 percent sure that
the situation is safe, do NOT shoot. Take time to make sure things are safe.

All violations should be reported to a club officer as soon as possible. If someone is in
an unsafe situation, help them by reminding them of the rules and regulations and if
    someone reminds you thank them.

    EFFECTIVE: August 1, 2006
