Ms. Jillian Gill, event coordinator for Cabela’s, will be our guest speaker this month.
Ms. Gill  will be discussing (what else?)  upcoming events at Cabela’s.

friends and/or coworkers.

SUMMER SPORTING CLAYS SHOOT
LCF&G will host a sporting clays shoot Saturday, August 21 at Deer Creek Hunt Club in
Three Oaks, MI.
The cost is $45 for a 100 target shoot, lunch, refreshments and awards afterwards. The cost
increases to $50 after this month’s meeting (August 4). The higher than normal cost is due to
Deer Creek’s increased costs and therefore higher cost to us.
Registration starts at 8:00 AM CDT with shooting starting at 9:00 AM CDT.
Call Connie at (219) 365-0951 to sign up.

LCF&G GROUNDS YOUTH HUNT
LCF&G grounds will be closed Sept. 11 in order to hold a youth hunt. Legal game will
include  Dove, Teal and Canada Geese. We’re going to allow 6 youth members an
opportunity to hunt our grounds for the day.
All hunters MUST BE LCF&G MEMBERS AND HUNTER SAFETY GRADUATES.
We’ll hold a lottery if more than 6 apply or possibly have a morning and afternoon hunt
depending on the interest shown. There is no cost involved (except for your ammo, etc.).
Apply at any meeting between now and then with our September meeting being the
deadline to apply.

SNAIL MAIL OR E-MAIL?
June’s newsletter was not delivered by the USPS because we advertised our gun raffle.
That, apparently, violates the rules of non-profit bulk mail. This issue is coming to you via
standard bulk mail at a 65% cost increase.
We are looking at alternatives to mailing a hard copy  of The Hoosier Sportsman each
month. Those alternatives include e-mail, simply posting the newsletter on our
website each month or continue with the present arrangement with a printed version being
mailed to you each month. We may also print a few copies each month to be made
available at the club.
I would like to hear from you regarding this issue. Please call me at (219) 663-3209 with your
opinion. You may also go to www.lakecountyfishandgame.org and sign up for e-mail
service. I, personally,  prefer the posting on the website  because like home addresses, e-
mail addresses sometimes change and keeping up with the changes can be a challenge.
And costly, too. The USPS will not forward our newsletter. Undelivered newsletters are
sent back to us with 1st class postage due.

LAKE COUNTY FAIR
This year’s fair runs from August 6 - August 15. LCF&G will host the fish pond the first
weekend (August  7 & 8). As always, we can use your help for an hour, or 2 either of those
days or during the week to help man our booth. Come out, help out and have some fun!

stealing fish.  DNR will now be giving tickets to anyone on the property who is not a member
and anyone taking fish from the property.  "Without consent" is the charge,
it is a $153.00 ticket.  LCF&G is now on file with the local CO's, they know how to
identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member.  If you see someone
who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line.
800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 )  You don't have to give your name but let them know.
They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them.
We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop.

Emergency numbers are posted in the window near the front gate.
