NEW GATE UPDATE
Our new gate system is up and running and has been since Tuesday, July 5th. I want to publicly
thank RS2 Technologies, of Munster, and Tri-Electronics, of Hammond, for their generous donation
of cable, hardware and software to make this system affordable and operable.
For those of you who haven’t picked up your new gate card yet, it’s ready and waiting for you.
You may pick up your card at any meeting or call the club at (219) 884-4532 to see if someone is there t
o assist you. You must pick up your card in person in order to sign for it and a copy of the rules. You may
also pick up cards for relatives, friends or coworkers as long as you’re willing to sign for them.

CLUB PICNIC SEPT 24
Sept. 24 is the date of this year’s club picnic. As usual, you may bring a dish to share, but that’s
not required. We’ll provide all the standard picnic stuff (menu TBA) and you bring you and maybe a chair.
There will be horse shoes to pitch and bean bags to toss. There will also be some activities for the kids.
Come out and enjoy the day with fellow LCF&G members, see old friends and maybe make
some new ones.

NEW HUNTERS DOVE HUNT SEPT 3
We are soliciting hunters new to the sport of dove hunting (youth preferred) and mentors to help
them  learn the  ropes at Willow Slough. There will be a firearm safety discussion and practice at the
shooting range and lunch prior to going afield. For info contact Don at (219) 844-2758.

LAKE COUNTY FAIR
This year’s Fair will take place from Aug. 6 through Aug. 14. As in years past, we will have our booth in the
Conservation Building. If you are willing and able to help man the booth throughout the week, please let us
know. If you can spare an hour, or two, to spell the people there one day, or another,
it would be greatly appreciated.
We will also man the fish pond, behind the Conservation Building, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 6 & 7.
If you can spare an hour, or two, there that also will be greatly appreciated. The fish pond is a little work,
but also great fun.

ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS
It has come to our attention that some of you seemingly don’t care about rules. You have all been
issued a copy of our property and keycard rules. READ THEM AND HEED THEM.  If you can’t read have
someone read them to you. We will not tolerate stringers of catfish with the attitude that “they won’t miss
a few of them”. Rest assured if this continues you will be dealt with. We have many members who enjoy
what we have and don’t have a problem with catch and release. They will also report violations. All it takes
is a mouse click and your keycard won’t work anymore, your access to our property will be denied and
your membership terminated, as well. Let me be clear. If you can’t, or won’t, follow the rules
WE DON’T WANT YOU!
Also, you’ll notice there are no trash cans on the property. That doesn’t mean the grounds are your
personal dump. TAKE OUT WHAT YOU BRING IN! We don’t have a trash collection service so keep our
grounds free from litter, cigarette butts, etc. We are proud of what we have and want to keep it that way.
Finally, the subject of immediate family has been brought up. “Immediate family” for our purposes is
defined as your spouse and minor children. Your grandchildren are also welcome on your membership.
That does not include friends, neighbors, coworkers or adult children. They all must have their own
membership in order to use, and enjoy, our grounds.

JULY 16 CLEAN UP DAY A HUGE SUCCESS
Many of you (too numerous to name) came out to help Saturday, July 16. Some dead trees and lots of
weeds were taken care of with the help of some pretty good power tools (ergh ergh). Thank you to all of
you for your time and effort. A lot was accomplished and the grounds are that much better for it.
The weather cooperated; it wasn’t too hot and the little rain we had waited until we were done. As I said,
you were too numerous to name because someone would be left out and that would be a shame. Thank
you for the pride you showed in what we have and your willingness to help make it better for all of our
members. THANK YOU...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

We have been having a problem with people sneaking onto the club property and
stealing fish.  DNR will now be giving tickets to anyone on the property who is not a it is
a $153.00 ticket.  LCF&G is now on file with the local CO's, they know how to
identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member.  If you see someone
who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line.
800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 )  You don't have to give your name but let them know.
They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them.
We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop.

Emergency numbers are posted in the window near the front gate.

    Thanks for your help
