NEW GATE UPDATE If you have received this newsletter your membership is valid until at least March 31, 2012. If you haven’t yet gotten your new gate card you may pick it up at any meeting/function or ANY DAY (w/ a few exceptions; call first (219) 756-4220) between 10 AM and noon at the Dawg House Pub in Merrillville. CHRISTMAS TREES WANTED Lake County Fish and Game is again soliciting Christmas trees to be “planted” in our waters. Please make sure they’re tinsel/ornament free and not artificial. You may drop off the trees at the east end of the parking lot between the shed and fence. Thank you for your support. LCF&G CLUB GOOSE HUNTING Lake County Fish and Game’s MEMBERS ONLY Waterfowl 2nd Chance Lottery Hunts will take place Dec 31, Jan. 7 & Jan. 14.Those members entered in the original drawing will be eligible for these 2nd Chance hunts. These hunts will take place assuming ice hasn’t chased the geese out. Those interested will have to be at the club those mornings for a draw at 4:45 AM. If a limit is attained early by some hunters, those present, but not drawn, may be rotated in, on a standby basis, for a chance to hunt. For safety reasons, the grounds will be closed to fishing, and all other activities, on those dates. CLUB ELECTIONS FOR 2012 The election of officers and Board of Directors for calendar year 2012 took place at last month’s meeting. The results can be seen below. We can also use waterfowl, pheasants and fish to smoke for the hors d’oeuvres table. While you’re afield this season give us a thought and give Don Jones a call when you have some game to donate (or your favorite dish for the hors d’oeuvres table). Tickets, which cost $40 each, are on sale now either online or from ticket boss, Keith Kruk. You’ll enjoy an hors d’oeuvres buffet, family-style dinner and open bar. There will also be raffles, tip boards and a live auction to keep you entertained. Doors open at 4 PM with dinner served at 6 PM. Letters of introduction, for the purpose of soliciting donations from the businesses you patronize, are available as well as applications for our dinner booklet ad program. WE’RE GOING ONLINE WITH THE HOOSIER SPORTSMAN We are going to discontinue the practice of bulk mailing this publication beginning in April 2012 (memberships expire March 31, 2012). You may view an updated copy of The Hoosier Sportsman on our website (www.lakecountyfishandgame.org) each month. If you have no access to the internet, or simply want a copy mailed to your house, please let me know and we’ll accommodate you. Call me at (219) 663-3209 if you would rather have a copy mailed to you. If you don’t read your newsletter, and don’t see this notice, then it really doesn’t matter. This move will save us approximately $200 per month in printing and mailing costs. ICE FISHING OUTING? This hard to schedule/predict given the weather of late. If we are to have such an outing it will likely have to be a short notice kind of thing. Watch here for any news concerning such an outing. |

stealing fish. DNR will now be giving tickets to anyone on the property who is not a member and anyone taking fish from the property. "Without consent" is the charge, it is a $153.00 ticket. LCF&G is now on file with the local CO's, they know how to identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member. If you see someone who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line. 800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 ) You don't have to give your name but let them know. They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them. We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop. Emergency numbers are posted in the window near the front gate. Thanks for your help |
