Mr. Ron Prestamer, our insurance agent, will be on hand to explain, and answer questions, concerning insurance issues related to the upcoming Little Calumet River Fest. Also, Richard Stenger, Eagle Scout candidate, will discuss his project to install ten Wood Duck boxes on our property. NEW GATE This summer we will be upgrading our access (keycard) system and include a keycard reader for the gate to the back of our property. I’m going to need some help...from pulling wire, fabricating brackets for the gate etc. Watch this space for your turn/time to help. Thank you for your support. NIGHT FISHING OUTING The Lakes Committee is sponsoring a night fishing outing, at the club, on Saturday, May 14th until 11 PM. Hot dogs and sloppy joes will be served at 6 PM. Please feel free to bring the beverage of your choice and come out to enjoy some fishing and friendship with your fellow club members. EQUIPMENT NEEDED LCF&G is in need of some heavy equipment for the purpose of planting some areas with covering foliage. We have an experienced operator in need of some equipment. GIWL 3-D ARCHERY SHOOTS The Griffith Izaak Walton League’s remaining schedule for 3-D archery shoots this summer is August 14th and 28th and September 18th. All shoots start at 8 AM with the last shooter out at 1 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be available. The cost is $9 for non-members and $7 for members. GIWL STEAK FRY The Griffith Izaak Walton League will host their annual Steak Fry May 14th from 3 PM ‘til 8 PM. The cost is $11 per plate, beverages available. LITTLE CALUMET RIVER FEST Lake County Fish and Game, with help from the Northwest Indiana Paddlers Association (and others) will host a celebration of the Little Calumet River with a 10 AM trip down the Little Cal from Cabelas, in Hammond, to Lake Etta County Park in Gary. Bring your kayak/canoe or rental canoes will be available. There will be: Food vendors Dog demonstrations by: RobDar’s Hound Song Rescue and North Central Search and Rescue Kids’ fishing derby hosted by MikLurch Tackle Outlet Lots of kids’ activities hosted by Cabelas Lake County Parks will host a naturalist led nature hike at 11:30 AM Gary Parks will host back yard fishing demonstrations Hammond Parks Foundation will sponsor a clean up of Oxbow Park. identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member. If you see someone who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line. 800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 ) You don't have to give your name but let them know. They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them. We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop. Emergency numbers are posted in the window near the front gate.
