NEW GATE UPDATE
For those of you who haven’t picked up your new gate card yet, it’s ready and waiting for you.
You may pick up your card at any meeting or any day (w/ a few exceptions; call first (219) 756-4220)
between 10 AM and noon at the Dawg House Pub in Merrillville. The Pub is located at the NE corner of
U. S. 30 and Whitcomb, kitty corner from Lexis of Merrillville, next to Aladdin Pita. You must pick up your
card in person in order to sign for it and a copy of the rules, as mandated by the Board of Directors.
You may also pick up cards for relatives, friends or coworkers as long as you’re willing to sign for them.
This will allow me to dispense cards without having to run back and forth to the club.
It will also accommodate those of you with odd days off.

LCF&G CLUB GOOSE HUNTING
Lake County Fish and Game will again allow goose hunting opportunities to MEMBERS ONLY
on a lottery basis. Chances can be had for $10 each. The dates  for which we will draw are:
Oct. 22                Nov. 5                Nov. 26

If you’re in the drawing, which will take place at this month’s meeting, you’re automatically in a
second chance drawing. That drawing will be for a late season hunt, assuming the geese are still here
and ice hasn’t chased them.
Those dates are:
Dec. 31                Jan. 7                Jan. 14

All State and Federal rules and regulations (license, stamps, steel shot, etc.) must be adhered to.
For safety reasons, the grounds will be closed to fishing, and all other activities, on those dates.

ATTENTION NEW MEMBERS
It has come to our attention that some of you seemingly don’t care about rules. You have all been
issued a copy of our property and keycard rules. READ THEM AND HEED THEM. We will not tolerate
stringers of fish with the attitude that “they won’t miss a few of them”. Rest assured if this continues
you will be dealt with. We have many members who enjoy what we have and don’t have a problem with
catch and release. They will also report violations. All it takes is a mouse click and your keycard won’t
work anymore, your access to our property will be denied and your membership terminated.
Let me be clear. If you can’t, or won’t, follow the rules WE DON’T WANT YOU!
Also, you’ll notice there are no trash cans on the property. TAKE OUT WHAT YOU BRING IN!
We don’t have a trash collection service so keep our grounds free from litter, cigarette butts, etc.
We are proud of what we have and want to keep it that way.

Finally, the subject of immediate family has been brought up. “Immediate family” for our purposes
is defined as your spouse and minor children. Your grandchildren are also welcome on your membership.
That does not include friends, neighbors, coworkers, uncles, brother-in-laws or adult children.
They all must have their own membership in order to use, and enjoy, our grounds.
Thank you for your respect.

GOT A TRAILER?
Member, Don Shurlow, is looking for a small boat trailer for his 12’ boat. If you can help call him
at (219) 934-0973.

FALL NIGHT FISHING OUTING
The Lakes Committee is planning a night fishing outing for Saturday, October 8th. Hot dogs, etc.
will available around 6 PM with the event lasting ‘til 11 PM, or so. Come out and enjoy LCF&G at night
with fellow members. Bring your favorite beverage, lantern, bug spray, chair, etc.

NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED
Ryan Thomas was named to fill a vacancy on the Board of Directors at September’s Board of
Directors’ meeting. Ryan is a very active club member and we wish him well. If you see him do the same.
On that note; it’s not too early to consider running for office in the upcoming elections for officers
and board members for calendar year 2012. The elections will take place at December’s meeting
(December 7, 2011).
Gary Piskula and Don Shurlow are your election committee for this year. See either of them to
place your name on the ballot. Prior to the balloting, on the night of the election,
nominations will also be taken from the floor .

Also, board member, Don Pasternak, was involved, recently, in a motorcycle accident. You might
keep in your thoughts and prayers. Get well soon, Don. Hope you’re doing well.

ADOPT A BEAGLE AT LAKE COUNTY SHERIFF'S ANIMAL CONTROL
Five Beagles are due to be euthanized at the Lake County Sheriff's Animal Control Facility if they're
not adopted soon. They will waive the adoption fee for any Lake County Fish and Game member
through October 15th. Only pay the spay/neuter fee. See Donna at the Lake County Sheriff's
Animal Control. 769-7016 The Beagles thank you. :)
