CLUB ELECTIONS 2011
Elections for our club’s officers and board of directors for calendar year 2011 were held
at last month’s meeting (December 1st) the results of which can be seen below.
I know you’ll join me in wishing incoming president, Keith Kruk well. And welcome
to new board members, Dan Piskula, Paul Spitz and Don Shurlow. And a reminder to them;
the Board of Directors meets the third Tuesday of each month. See you there!
Gary Piskula served as election committee chair this year, and did a fine job.

CHRISTMAS TREES NEEDED AT LCF&G
We need your Christmas trees at Lake County Fish and Game to be used as structure
in our ponds. Please make sure they’re clean and free on ornaments, tinsel or lights.
You may drop them off at the NE corner of the parking lot next to the small shed.
We can also use some cinder blocks to be used to anchor them.

As usual, we can use your help at some upcoming events.
The Hammond Outdoor Show at the Jean Shepherd Community Center is
January 22 & 23. The Lake County Gun Show at the Lake County Fairgrounds is
January 29 & 30. We’ll have our booth set up at both events. More info can be found

2011 MEMBERSHIPS NOW DUE
Memberships for calendar year 2011 are now due. Remember to keep your membership
current in order to avoid paying another $25 to renew your keycard. In other words, renew
your membership by January’s meeting and your keycard won’t cost you again.
Some of you have already renewed (and we thank you). You will see an asterisk (*)
after your name on the mailing label. If you have renewed and don’t see the asterisk,
call the membership chairman at (219) 663-3209 and we’ll correct the situation.
Don’t try to scam him, though ‘cause he’s smarter than he looks!

31st ANNUAL WILD GAME DINNER
March 19, 2011 is the date of the 31st Annual Walt Millikan Memorial Wild Game Dinner.
Tickets, which are $40 each, are available now from ticket chairman, Mike Echterling
or online at our website: www.lakecountyfishandgame.org.
It seems we’ve been in violation of Indiana gaming laws for not having a license to sell
tip boards (something we’re in the process of correcting). For  that reason, and the fact that
tipping liquor is illegal, we are no longer soliciting bottles of booze. Anything else we can
use to tip, auction or raffle will be greatly appreciated. Letters of introduction for the
purpose  of soliciting businesses you patronize are available either at the club or
online at our website.
We can also use donations for the hors d’oeuvres table. We need pheasants, geese, ducks
and fish to smoke. Any game dish you would care to contribute is also welcomed.
It needn’t feed the whole crowd, either. When it’s gone, it’s gone!
Our game dinner booklet ad program is also in effect. Ad applications are also available
either at the club or online. I think you’ll find our advertising rates are very reasonable
(from $15 for a business card size to $100 for a full page). If you have a business you’d
like to promote this is a great way to help yourself and LCF&G at the same time.
We sincerely appreciate any assistance you can provide in helping to
make this dinner a success.

POLAR SHOOT
Lake County Fish and Game will again sponsor a Sporting Clays “Polar  Shoot” to help fight
“cabin fever”.  It’s always cold and it’s always fun! The event will take place Saturday
February 12, 2011 at the Deer Creek Hunt Club in Three Oaks, Michigan. Pre-registration is
encouraged. The cost is $48 per shooter and is open to the public.
February’s meeting (February 2, 2011) is the deadline for pre-registration.
After February 2 the cost increases to $53 per shooter.
Deer Creek Hunt Club is located at 18000 Basswood Rd. Take I-94 east into Michigan, exit 4A,
towards Three Oaks 2.7 miles on the right. Their phone number is (269) 756-6600.
You may call ahead to reserve a golf cart if desired.
 Check-in at Deer Creek will begin at 8:30 AM CST with shooting starting at
9:30 AM CST (Keep in mind Deer Creek is on EST). The program consists of a 100 target
shoot, lunch, refreshments and awards afterwards.

    We have been having a problem with people sneaking onto the club property and
    stealing fish.  DNR will now be giving tickets to anyone on the property who is not a
    member and anyone taking fish from the property.  "Without consent" is the charge,
    it is a $153.00 ticket.  LCF&G is now on file with the local CO's, they know how to
    identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member.  If you see someone
    who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line.  
    800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 )  You don't have to give your name but let them know.  
    They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them.  
    We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop.
