speaker in the future contact Don Jones.

MR. GLENN
It is my sad duty to inform you of the passing of Mr. Glenn Venable on Saturday, April 18,
2009. “Mr. Glenn”, as he was known to those who knew him best, was a life member of
our association. He was very active in all our events, especially the Lake County Fair. He
was named an honorary board member a few years ago because of his status as a board
member, his devotion to LCF&G and the fact that his advancing age (he was 97)
prevented him from making the December meetings when elections were held. An honor
I’m not aware of having been bestowed upon anyone in the past.  This is, sadly, the last
issue of The Hoosier Sportsman in which you’ll see his name listed under the Board of
Directors. Mr. Glenn was laid to rest Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Oak Hill Cemetery in
Hammond and yours truly was deeply and profoundly honored to have been asked to
participate. Mr. Glenn was a friend to all. “One of a kind” fits, but it doesn’t come close to
describing the man. He will be dearly missed by all who had the distinct pleasure of
knowing him.

NIGHT FISHING OUTING PLANNED
The Lakes Committee has announced plans for another night fishing outing to take place
June 6, 2009. There will be hot dogs to grill and a bonfire to enjoy. Friends, fun, fishing
and food. Who could ask for more? Be sure to bring your chair, lantern and bug spray. The
timing of this outing is such that the bugs may not be out yet and therefore
not a problem. I’d bring some bug spray just in case, though.
Speaking of night fishing. There will be a vote taken at the June meeting to determine the
future of night fishing at the club. That privilege was suspended after poaching incidents
reduced our stocked fish. The hope is that the mere presence of honest, rule abiding
members  will deter dishonest, rule breaking members, and nonmembers alike, from
poaching our fish. If you care about this issue be sure to attend June’s meeting. And then
come out June 6th to enjoy all Lake County Fish and Game has to offer after dark!

LCF&G PROPERTY RULES
FISHING IS A GREAT BENEFIT OF MEMBERSHIP IN LAKE COUNTY FISH AND GAME.
PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR LAKES HEALTHY AND PRODUCTIVE BY FOLLOWING THESE
RULES:
ALL FISH ARE CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY.

When fishing with live, dead or stink bait, use only single, barbless hooks or have the
barb flattened. Double or treble hooks are not allowed when fishing with bait.
The largest hook that may be used is a #4.

Fishing with live minnows is not allowed. However, 3-4” bluegills may be caught and
used as bait for bass or catfish

Handle bass, catfish, pike and wipers with care. If the hook has been swallowed and
cannot be reached, quickly cut the line as close to the hook as possible and release
the fish.

The use of the lakes and grounds is limited to members and their immediate family,
which includes children and grandchildren. Children under the age of 17 must be
accompanied by an adult member.

The lakes are closed to fishing from dusk to dawn.

Close and lock all doors and gates that you open.

There are no garbage cans. We do not have a groundskeeper, nor do we have garbage
service. All paper, plastic, cans, bait containers, etc. that you bring in must be taken out!
Field strip cigarette butts and put the filters in your pocket.
KEEP OUR GROUNDS LITTER FREE!

Restrooms are in the clubhouse; use them, not the grounds or lakes.

No hunting, trapping, swimming, wading or discharging of firearms.

No camping or open campfires. You may use the ring adjacent to the pavilion. Use your
own firewood. Ensure fires are out before leaving.

Do not cut, chop or saw wood from live or dead trees, bushes or brush.

Motorized vehicles are allowed on designated roadways only. Snowmobiles, ATVs, dirt
bikes are not allowed.

The pavilion may not be reserved; space is to be shared among users. Do not move
benches or tables from under the pavilion.

Pet walking and training is allowed. Owners must clean up after their pets. No pets
allowed in the clubhouse.

Archery practice in designated area only.

These rules were revised and made effective July 1, 2006 by the Board of Directors of
Lake County Fish and Game.

We have been having a problem with people sneaking onto the club property and
stealing fish.  DNR will now be giving tickets to anyone on the property who is not a
member and anyone taking fish from the property.  "Without consent" is the charge,
it is a $153.00 ticket.  LCF&G is now on file with the local CO's, they know how to
identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member.  If you see someone
who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line.
800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 )  You don't have to give your name but let them know.
They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them.
We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop.

Emergency numbers will be posted near the front gate.

    Thanks for your help
Cabelas ( When the Club booth is there ) and at meetings.  You can contact ME for tickets if you would
like tickets to sell.
Tickets are not sold online.
