NOVEMBER GUEST SPEAKER
Mr. Howard “Capt. Ski” Petroski will be our guest speaker this month. He
will be discussing Lake Michigan fishing tips and techniques. He’s a good
speaker; come out and give him a listen.

2009 MEMBERSHIPS AVAILABLE NOW
This month’s newsletter comes to you as part of our annual mailing with a
2009 membership renewal card and a raffle ticket. The raffle is for a couple
shotguns and an ammo case. The drawing will take place at our Wild Game
Dinner on March 7, 2009. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. More tickets are
available at any meeting or by contacting Don Jones. You may also get
additional tickets to sell to friends, family and co-workers. Contact Don Jones
for more info.  Additional membership tickets are available as well, or you
may simply use the coupon on the back of the newsletter (copies are also
acceptable). You’ll want to renew your membership on time this year in order
to avoid paying the increased fee to renew your access card. (See the
keycard article). And our website now offers new, as well as, renewal
memberships using a credit card and paypal. Check it out at www.
lakecountyfishandgame.org. And, new this year, you may also buy your Game
Dinner tickets on-line in the same manner. They will go on sale shortly.
More on that later.

KEYCARD GATE UPDATE
Many special thanks to George Doppler, Bob Tortolano and their crew from
Hyre Electric for their work in getting the electric run for our gate. If it is not
in operation by the time you read this it will be fully operational in the very
near future. THANKS, GUYS!!

CLUB ELECTIONS
Club elections for the 2009 calendar year will be held at our
December meeting. (Dec. 3).
Tim and Dave Kandelec will handle the election committee chores this year.
To put your name on the ballot for a particular office, or as a member of the
board, please contact either Tim or Dave. Nominations will also be taken from
the floor, that night, prior to the balloting. We’re always looking for “new
blood”. So if you’re feelin’ froggy...leap!

KEYCARD FEES GOING UP
The Board of Directors, at the Sept. meeting,  approved an increase in
the cost of keycards beginning next year. Annual dues will remain the same
at $40 for adults, and $10  for youths 16 and younger.
Next year the cost of a keycard will be increased to $25.
What that means for you current members with keycards is that you want to
make sure you keep your membership current (renewed by Dec. 31) because
if you allow your membership to lapse your keycard will now cost $25 to
renew. Renew  your membership on time and your keycard still costs you
nothing but the original $10 fee you paid. It also means that for those
members who may have thought of obtaining a keycard, now is the time
before the fee increase takes affect.  This increase was put into place for the
simple fact that the list of amenities afforded our members is growing.
We’ll have a gate shortly that will be opened by the aforementioned keycard.
Our Back Lake, consisting of approximately 18 acres of water, will be open to
fishing sometime next year. (The official opening date is yet to be announced
by the Lakes Committee). And the keycard system itself will have to be
upgraded sometime in the future. The system we have is obsolete and no
longer supported by the manufacturer and parts are no longer available. We
have a commitment from a local supplier, who shall remain nameless for the
time being, to donate some hardware and software while selling us other
hardware items at their cost. This is down the road, not too far down the road
but down the road nonetheless. The beauty is those of you with current
keycards will be grandfathered into the new system, and receive new
credentials based on the type of technology used, while new members, and
those who procrastinated, will be paying the increased fee. Renew on
time/save!

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS SUN. NOV. 2nd.
