DOVE HUNT MENTORING PROGRAM
Our first attempt at a dove hunt mentoring program was a success! We had 21 young
hunters out Sept. 5th for some lunch, range activities and an afternoon dove hunt. Thanks
to all our mentors who gave of their time to convey to new-to-the-sport hunters the finer
points of dove hunting.

YOUTH WATERFOWL HUNTING WEEKENDS
Youth Waterfowl hunting weekends are scheduled for one week before the regular
waterfowl seasons open in the different zones around the state. Youth waterfowl hunters
must be 15 years of age, or younger and must be accompanied by an adult who is at least
18 years of age. An adult may accompany more than one youth hunter. The adult may not
hunt those days (except for Snow Geese and Brant when and where those seasons are
open). Bag limits and regulations are the same as those allowed in the regular season.
The dates are:
 North Zone                October 10 & 11
 South Zone                October 17 & 18
 Ohio River Zone                October 24 & 25

GOOSE HUNT @ LCF&G LOTTERY
LCF&G is planning to raffle two (2) opportunities for 3-person parties to hunt geese on our
property during this upcoming regular waterfowl season. All 3 must be members All State
and Federal regulations will have to be adhered to. The raffle, and hunt, are open to
members only. The 2 hunts will take place, 1 early and the other late in the season  and
will be guided and supervised. The tickets ($10 each) are only available at a meeting or
function (no on-line sales). Proceeds will go to fund  stocking of fish in our lakes.

NIGHT FISHING OUTING PLANNED
The Lakes Committee has announced plans for a night fishing outing to take place
October 10. There will be hot dogs and a bonfire to enjoy. The outing will run till 11 pm
with hot dogs around 5 pm. Come and enjoy some fishing, food and fun with fellow
members.

CLUB ELECTIONS FOR 2010
Club elections of officers and board of directors for calendar year 2010 will be held at our
December meeting (December 2, 2009). Our by-laws call for a minimum of 10 and a
maximum of 15 board members. We currently have 11. We need you to get involved.
Place your name on the ballot or accept a nomination from the floor the night of the
election. It’s as simple as that.   Being a board member does carry some responsibility.
Attend board meetings (third Tuesday of each month). Sit on, or chair, a committee. Help
set policy and run day-to-day operations of our organization. All of these things are fairly
easy to do but do require some time and commitment. That’s what we need from you...
commitment. Have some ideas on how our club should be run? Want to get involved?
Feelin’ froggy? Just leap!!

CLEAN-UP DAY A FLOP
Sept. 12th was clean-up day at the club. 2 people showed up. The board of directors
handled cleaning the hall after their monthly meeting on the 15th. Thank you for you
support.

DANNY YOUNG
Danny Young, a relatively new (since we moved to Griffith) member of LCF&G passed
away Sept. 4th at the age of 51. He and his brother, Ray, could generally be found at  most
of our club’s functions. Our condolences to his family. 51 is much too young. Appreciate
every day you have with your family and friends.
Danny will be missed by those who knew him best. RIP

We have been having a problem with people sneaking onto the club property and
stealing fish.  DNR will now be giving tickets to anyone on the property who is not a
member and anyone taking fish from the property.  "Without consent" is the charge,
it is a $153.00 ticket.  LCF&G is now on file with the local CO's, they know how to
identify a member so be prepared to ID yourself as a member.  If you see someone
who is keeping fish or see anyone who is not a member please call the DNR tip line.
800-TIP-IDNR ( 800-847-4367 )  You don't have to give your name but let them know.
They may not be able to come right out but sooner or later they will get them.
We paid for those fish and the theft has to stop.

Emergency numbers are posted in the window near the front gate.

    Thanks for your help
